BRINGING BACK GOD, PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRISTOL AND MARIETTA: In God we trust? Not much any more.

The United States dollar says it “In God we trust”.  Our pledge of allegiance had it added on a Flag day- “One nation under God”.  Our country was built upon trust in God.  But according to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, while preaching at BRINGING BACK GOD, both in BRISTOL and MARIETTA, we don’t trust in God as a country. And we don’t trust in God as individuals.  What a slap in the face to God who has given us everything.

The Holy Bible says “fear not” 365 times.  Do you think that is a coincidence?  There are no coincidences with God.  We are to trust God, and to trust God, we need to listen when he says “fear not”.  This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fear God: absolutely we need to fear God.  All through the Bible are stories of the wrath of God as a result of the foolishness of people who had no faith or turned away from faith-Sodom and Gomorrah and the other three cities, Ananias and Sapphira, Adam and Eve. But we need to trust God to help us through our every day trials, to trust him to help us through our pain, trust him to help us through our life.  He tells us to have no fear, to have courage, that he is there for us.  365 times.  One for every day of the calendar year. “Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he is that doth go with thee, he will not fail thee or forsake thee.” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

If Jesus was here today, and you knew who he was, would you trust him enough to go to him and ask him to pray with you, to pray for you?  That is our problem too.  We don’t believe that Jesus is here.  He is.  We cannot see him, but we are supposed to know he is here.  Even so, we don’t have faith as a people enough to have the courage to go to him and ask for prayer, for help, to be with us in spirit.  To show us how to go on.  Sure, we are Christians, we profess our faith, we try to act in a Christ-like manner, but we fall short of the salvation of that Cross.  We are hypocrites because we don’t act upon our faith.  We don’t trust.

Jesus died so that we could have salvation and an eternity in Heaven.  God gave us that gift.  We need to trust that he wants the best for us, that he knows our pain, our fears, our shortcomings.  He loves us anyway, and wants us to come to know his Son so we can be in Heaven for eternity. Repent.  Ask for forgiveness.  Jesus is our salvation.

BRINGING BACK GOD, PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRISTOL AND MARIETTA: Fear and pride

We all have fear of somethingWe fear loss-job, family, money marriage.  We fear the future, we fear the unknown. Because we react to that fear, we respond in some way to control it. According to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, while preaching at BRINGING BACK GOD in BRISTOL and MARIETTAFear is a sign of the enemy, it triggers a sense of self protection, which creates a web of pride. The real truth is, elevated proud people don’t take responsibility for their own problems. Instead they put you in fear to their advantage. When you’re elevated in yourself, without even knowing it you are under the influence of a spirit of fear and a spirit of lying. Unconsciously you will intimidate and manipulate others to protect your position. The person will sense this intimidation and manipulation (often sub-consciously) and begin to fear what you think of them or get annoyed that you are using them instead of taking their own responsibility, thus becoming trapped in the web of pride. You could argue that the recipient is innocent but, the real truth is that they are proud too.

The issue isn’t what people are doing to you; it’s principalities and powers that oppress you. When someone tries to put fear on you or manipulate you, know that you are being attacked by a spirit of fear, and when you succumb to a spirit of fear, know that you have stepped out of the love of the Father. It’s not wrong to feel fear, it’s wrong to surrender to it.

Don’t react to the fear; let it drive you to faith. Love suffers the fear attack trusting God’s outcome; pride tries not to have fear, and love stops and recognizes where the attack is really coming from. Paul had a thorn in the flesh: And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10).

The answer to being intimidated and being manipulated and being fearful is to accept God’s strategy of the thorn in the flesh. Paul was given a thorn in the flesh to buffet him incessantly. He wanted it to go away but God knows the pride of man so He’s strategy was to leave it in place to keep him humble so he wouldn’t lose his salvation.” Don’t give in to fear, intimidation and manipulation.   Let Christ handle it for you.   That is when you will be your strongest.

BRINGING BACK GOD: Fear

Hydrangeas

A sermon at BRINGING BACK GOD MARIETTA PA, PASTOR JOHN COLLINS spoke of fourteen sins that are challenging “Giants”. Another of these is FEAR. Fear in Christians make us sin.  It draws us away from the love of God and the love of Jesus. The Holy Bible lists “fear not” 365 times.  According to PASTOR JOHN, during his sermon at BRINGING BACK GOD BRISTOL TN that is not a coincidence. God wants us to trust in Him every day, and there are 365 days in a year, so he tells us to fear not 365 times in the Bible.

Fear enables us to do things we shouldn’t do if we truly are Christians and have faith: lie to save ourselves from what others think-giving in to peer pressure whether as an adult or a child. Gossip and slander to push the attention away from yourself. Steal because we are afraid we don’t have enough money. Seek comfort in alcohol or drugs because we don’t know how to deal with the fear any other way.  How do we deal with the fear?  Trust in God.  Tell your fears to Jesus.  That is why He died on the Cross-for our salvation from our sins and to relieve our fears. This is what PASTOR JOHN COLLINS preaches about at BRINGING BACK GOD BRISTOL TN, and on blog talk radio, as well as Top Gun Radio and WIGN in Bristol TN.

Trust in God and in the salvation of the cross through Jesus. Repent your fears-and if you need to talk to someone about them even after prayer? Stop in at 1505 Broad St. in Bristol TN and talk to someone who can help you.

God bless you.
