Bringing Back God, Pastor John Collins, Marietta & Bristol: Tattoos, Jesus, and God

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” This is written in Revelation, 19:16. PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, MARIETTA & BRISTOL, points out that if this is written on the thigh of Jesus, it is written as a tattoo.  How else would someone mark their body? So many people judge those who have tattoos.  Tattoos are a means to give glory to our maker, our body is a canvas to use for this purpose. To give glory.  Not to honor the dead, for in Leviticus 19:28 it says “ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord”  This is not saying don’t tattoo, this is saying don’t put a tattoo on you that honors the dead.  If you honor the dead, you are not honoring God, who is living!  There are pagan rituals where people cut themselves in mourning and put tattoos on themselves to honor the person who is dead.  If you do this, tattoo yourself for the dead, then you are not honoring God.  If you already had tattoos done to yourself that honor the dead, and now are a Christian?  What a great way of testimony to others about your salvation and what you were and who you are, according to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD. Others will judge you for tattoos until it becomes an accepted practice.  Forgive them, and if the opportunity is there, teach them about tattoos and Jesus.  God wants our bodies back, what a great way to show Him that we cared enough to honor Him with tattoos.

Bringing Back God, Pastor John Collins, Marietta & Bristol: Judge not

Tulips

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, MARIETTA & BRISTOL, does throw back sermons from his favorite preachers.  One of them is David Wilkerson.  David Wilkerson did his ministry among the heroin addicts and gangs of New York City in the 1960s.  He had a hard time getting started, but by faith in God and listening to God’s will, he was able to begin a ministry that continues today.  PASTOR JOHN COLLINS tells of the time when one of the gang members was given the offering basket.  The gang member took other members and they collected a large amount of money from the  crowd.  They all went back stage, and when they were called out, they didn’t come at first.  But, they did eventually.  The gang member told David Wilkerson that he never had anyone trust him like that before: he was judged to be not trustworthy because of his gang membership.

Jesus says “judge not lest ye be judged”. PASTOR JOHN COLLINS preaches that we are not different from one another: we are all sinners that need to find the path to the cross. Our sins make us the same, whether we are bankers, professionals, bikers, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons.  We fall short of the glory of salvation.  Are your clothes ragged?  Are they expensive Armani suits?  Do you have gauges in your ears?  Do you wear spiked high heels?  Do you have tattoos?  It doesn’t matter, because we all are the same in the eyes of the Lord.  Don’t judge someone because he has a tattoo of a tear at the corner of his eye.  Don’t gossip about them behind their back.  Judging is not for us, that is for God and Jesus. Gossip is a sin, just like murder and adultery, God does not see it any differently.  Sin is sin. Nothing is greater than the other according to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, BRISTOL & MARIETTA: Reading The Holy Bible

Bibles

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, BRISTOL & MARIETTA, teaches that the Holy Bible is the only book you need to know how to act, live, believe, pray. God gave it to us to use as a book to live by.  The 10 Commandments are laws given to Moses directing the chosen people, the Israelites, how to live a godly life.  The books of Moses, the first five books of the Old Testament, tell of history and of rules to live by for that time to be close to God.  Eve’s original sin of eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:6), has had man in sin ever since. God has constantly been working to save his creation of man since the original sin of Eve.

The Holy Bible, according to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, tells us how to live a Christian life.  All we have to do is read it.  How many of us have read the Bible cover to cover?  Then the next question is how many of us understand what we read?  The most accurate translation according to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS is the King James Version, it is difficult to read because of the old English formality.  So how do you understand it?  His suggestion is to get a good commentary and look up what you don’t understand.  Explanations help you to understand just what is being said.  Translations have changed some of the names in the Holy Bible making it confusing for us to follow the story line.  The Old Testament refers to Elijah, a prophet,  being taken up, he is one of two people in history that did not die a human death.  In the New Testament, it’s translated into Elias.  Isaiah, the prophet in the Old Testament, is translated into Esaias in the New Testament.  To the normal everyday person reading the Bible, this can be confusing.  Using a commentary will help solve that confusion.

The Holy Bible was given to us by God through a variety of writers.  PASTOR JOHN COLLINS teaches us that is it a spiritual medicine, a way to find peace and guidance.  It’s meant to help us learn to heal our diseased morals that have become out of hand in today’s society. The Gospel gives us hope through the sacrifice of Jesus; this is God’s way of helping mankind get beyond the original sin of Eve. God gave us the opportunity of salvation, by choosing to follow Jesus and the Gospel, repenting of our sins and being born again as a Christian, one who is Christ-like.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, teaches us to read the Holy Bible everyday.  Even for 10 minutes.  If you are studying the Bible, have a second one nearby so you can cross reference the small notes found in most Bibles referring to other verses and chapters.  This can help you understand what you are reading more.  Get a commentary.  And ultimately, fellowship with someone who understands the Bible.  You can contact PASTOR JOHN COLLINS by email if you have a question about what you are reading.  He will answer you; bringingbackgod@outlook.com.  Listen to his sermons for a fresh view on faith at www.blogtalkradio.com/pastorjohncollins. PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, MARIETTA & BRISTOL: If I were the devil…

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD,did throw back sermons on Thursday evenings in MARIETTA, PA. One of his more compelling sermons was taken from a broadcast by Paul Harvey:

If I were the devil … If I were the Prince of Darkness, I’d want to engulf the whole world in darkness. And I’d have a third of it’s real estate, and four-fifths of its population, but I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — Thee. So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first — I’d begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.’
“To the young, I would whisper that ‘The Bible is a myth.’ I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what’s bad is good, and what’s good is ‘square.’ And the old, I would teach to pray, after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…’
“And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting, so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.
“If I were the devil I’d soon have families that war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames. If I were the devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions — just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.
“Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography — soon I could evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress. And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion, and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.
“If I were the devil I’d take from those who have, and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. And what do you bet? I couldn’t get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich? I would caution against extremes and hard work, in Patriotism, in moral conduct. I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun, that what you see on TV is the way to be. And thus I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words, if I were the devil I’d just keep right on doing on what he’s doing. Paul Harvey, good day.”

In Bristol, PASTOR JOHN COLLINSpreaches that the old is new again.  This broadcast took place in 1965.  1965.  If you read it for the first time and felt yourself saying “amen, yes this is now” think again!  This was in 1965.  Almost 50 years ago.  And guess what, it didn’t get any better, it actually has gotten worse! We have our work cut out for us as Christians.  We need to take a stand.  PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, “there’s a time and a place, it’s now and it’s grace”.  Take that stand and do the right thing.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, BRISTOL & MARIETTA: Perseverance and faith

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, BRISTOL & MARIETTA, has said in his sermons that “Faith in God makes all things possible”.  We all have had challenges in our lives that make us feel like what we need will never work out, no matter what we doPrayer seems to go unanswered, feelings of doubt creep in, we get discouraged-and of course when we start to feel that way, we aren’t acting of God, we are responding to the enemy, Satan.  If he can get a foothold, a tiny wedge in your heart, he will rip it to pieces gleefully. Perseverance is the answer. PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, says that you’ve got to get your knees dirty.  If one prayer didn’t work, then pray moreThe cross is the only way for true prosperity and happiness, you just have to want to get up and do it.

The Holy Bible gives guidance and encouragement for perseverance and faith. “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptation, knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” (James 1:2-4, KJV).  Our first response to adversity is to run and hide, or give up, escape.  But, trials and tests mature our faith; perseverance makes us stronger in our faith in God.  God wants us to be better Christians, not bitter Christians, trials and adversity strengthen us. “Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope; and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” (Romans 5:1-5 KJV).  Paul is also telling us that trials and difficulties teach us patience, the experience tempers our faith and makes us strong.  PASTOR JOHN COLLINStells us “faith is free”.  Look what faith will give us, if only we persevere.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, BRISTOL & MARIETTA: Discouragement and hope

“Hope is like sunshine, everyone needs a ray of it”, according to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, BRISTOL & MARIETTA. We all get discouraged because we are all sinners.  Every one of us.  The Holy Bible tells us that if we want something, all we have to do is pray meaning it with all our heart, and we will be rewarded.  The thing is, our time and God’s time are likely two different things, and we get discouraged because we don’t get what we prayed for right away. That’s where we need hopeHope comes from our faith and our belief in Jesus and His salvation.

Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. (KJV).

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (KJV).
Proverbs 13:12 – Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. (KJV).
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  (KJV).

The Bible is full of support and encouragement.  It is a guide book for living, the only Book anyone ever really needs according to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD.  Hope is what God gave us when He sent Jesus to us and He died upon the cross.  Hope is what Jesus gives us when we come to Him, repenting of our sins, seeking forgiveness.  Hope is what we get when we let Him into our hearts, because we know that God is with us then, that He sees what we need, and it will be provided.  Every time.  Jesus is our Hope, he is a drink of water when we are thirsty.  He is the food when we are hungry.  He is our way to eternal life. Discouragement is not of Jesus and God, it is of this earth.  When we let discouragement in, we dwell, we worry, we stress.  That isn’t what God wants for us.  He wants us to be happy. We just have to let go and let God. Believe in Jesus, bring some hope into your life.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, BRISTOL & MARIETTA: Fruit of the Spirit

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD, BRISTOL & MARIETTA, often preaches about Paul of Tarsus, who once persecuted the followers of Jesus and the way.  His conversion was complete after Jesus spoke to him on the road to Damascus, when he was blinded and could not see for three days, and also did not eat or drink for those three days. He became a preacher, giving up everything: he was on the track to become a Pharisee, and he had overseen the punishment and death of many Christians.  Paul wrote many of the books that are in the New Testament.

Galatians 5 speaks of running the race, meaning progressing spiritually in faith in Jesus and in submission to the will of God. This will allow a Christian to live by the Spirit.  Allowing the Spirit to enter your heart means to live a God-pleasing life. PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD,preaches from the Holy Bible, which says that in order to live a God-pleasing life, a Christian must avoid the “lusts of the flesh” (Galatians 5 16-17, KJV).  The lusts of the flesh are “adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness(sexual excess), idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance (conflict, lack of agreement, arguments), emulations (jealousy), wrath, strife, heresies (cliques of faith-mine is better than yours), envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like…….they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5: 19-21).  The Bible very clearly identifies these as sins against God and that these acts will not allow you into the kingdom of heaven.

The fruit of the Spirit is what will allow you into the kingdom of heaven.  These are “love (willing to give of oneself for the benefit of another without thought for what will be given in return), joy (gladness of heart), peace (tranquility of mind, freeing one from worry and fear) long-suffering (patience with others, the opposite of a short temper, a disposition that quietly bears injury), gentleness (kindness), goodness (generosity), faith (dependability), meekness (courtesy and consideration), temperance (self control, the ability to harness one’s passions): against these there is no law” (Galations 5:22, KJV). PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, BRINGING BACK GOD says being a Christian isn’t what you do on Sunday, its what you do from Sunday to Sunday.  To grow the fruit of the Spirit is like growing a fruit tree, you have to nurture it and feed it.  To allow the Spirit to blossom within you, you have to practice these nine fruits everyday of your life.  It isn’t once saved, always saved, according to PASTOR JOHN COLLINS. You have to work at it, live it.  Run the race, like Paul says.
